One of the areas of work of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is museum pedagogy, which is carried out by the Department of Museum Pedagogy and Children's Creativity. According to the Regulation, the main tasks of the department are: the organization and implementation of museum and educational projects, programs, museum clubs aimed at developing historical thinking, patriotic and spiritual-moral culture in children and adolescents, and developing children's creative abilities. Projects are focused on different age groups of children and youth, taking into account the psycho physiological, emotional and socio-psychological characteristics of each age group. The department maintains close contact with organizations and educational institutions of the city of Nur-Sultan.

The department carries out a complex of cultural and educational events aimed at introducing the younger generation to the museum, at implementing the tasks of moral and patriotic education, and creative development of the individual. These are museum lessons, museum quests, educational and game programs, excursions, lectures, round tables, thematic evenings, implemented as part of the cultural and educational projects “Tarıhı tulǵalar”, “Shańyraq”, “Ásemdіkke qushtarlyq”, “Entertaining Ethnography”, “Student club “Dana”, and the social project “Meıіrіm”.

In addition, there are museum art studios and clubs “Miras”, “Sheber”. The events in the framework of the “Tarıhı tulǵalar” project are dedicated to the life and creative path of Kazakhstan’s historical personalities, the purpose of which is the historical roles of Kazakh personalities from the emergence of mankind to the present of Kazakhstan, historical events of that time and phenomenon, through cultural events to attract attention and spiritual development of the younger generation. Give them intelligence, humanity, social education; readership to build youth of cultural heritage with knowledge and aesthetic perception; create conditions for logical games, oral and written linguistic culture, personal relationships.

The project “History Lesson in the Museum” which purpose is to open the contents of museum exhibits; children feel the atmosphere of the historical period and better learn acquisition. Acquaintance with the museum of participants in our events begins with excursions so that they have an idea of what a “museum” is and get to know its exhibits more closely. Namely, in the halls of the museum that lesson is held as part of the project the Lesson in the Museum.
The events within the framework of the project “Shańyraq” have become popular among schoolchildren, which also mainly take place in the halls of the museum, the purpose of which is to get acquainted with the culture of ethnic groups of Kazakhstan, the secrets of their crafts, about national traditions, holidays of the people of Kazakhstan, and students themselves become participants in these holidays.
The project "Ásemdіkke qushtarlyq" is intended for students of different ages in order to educate a social active creative person who is able to understand and appreciate the world around him, nature, as well as the development of aesthetic perception of the young generation and their creative potential. In addition, the objectives of the project are to acquaint with the museum’s exhibits — paintings, sculptures, tell about the history of their creation, and also contribute to the formation of the young generation’s understanding of the true beauty of the human soul.

With great desire, children attend events within the framework of the project “Entertaining Ethnography”, the purpose of which is to create a series of museum lessons devoted to traditional and national games for children; expanding and deepening the knowledge and interest of young visitors to the museum about the culture and traditions of the people through national games; to acquaint children with the national games of the people of Kazakhstan, with the history of their occurrence, as well as their significance in folklore.

In order to popularize the cultural heritage, foster an active civic position, the formation of a creative personality and aesthetic culture, the “Dana” student club operates.
Since 2017, the Department of Museum Pedagogy and Children's Creativity has been implementing the social project “Meıirim”. Its main tasks: to help museum visitors with physical disabilities to join the cultural values of Kazakhstan and other countries through the museum educational space, broaden their horizons, give impetus to the development of imagination and creative abilities, and also offer opportunities for leisure activities. As part of this project, we are working towards inclusive pedagogy, i.e. we involve children with special educational needs and their regular peers in our events. Cultural and educational events are carried out according to a special technique, taking into account the diagnosis of children, observing the specifics of each audience, we invite sign-language interpreters, use texts into Braille.

Children can develop their creative abilities and craft with their own hands in the clubs “Sheber”, “Miras”, and “Museum art studios”. In the club "Sheber" they learn embroidery and other types of decorative art.
In the museum art studio, which is led by a member of the Union of Designers of Kazakhstan, a teacher of painting and graphics, Mukhtar Baybosyn, children learn various types of easel graphics, learn to draw with watercolors, oils, acrylics, and there are also lectures and talks about the history of fine art. By tradition, by the end of the school year, an exhibition of creative works by a member of the art studio takes place.

The training program of the club “Miras” has a cognitive, theoretical and practical orientation. “Miras” is an opportunity to gain research skills in working with historical sources, literature, and museum exhibits; in addition, Miras residents themselves conduct tours of the museum. Upon completion, students are issued certificates with the right to conduct excursions in the halls of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The morning matinees dedicated to Nauryz holidays and New Year’s performances have become traditional in the museum Each matinee is a whole theatrical performance with interesting scenes, in which more than 20 museum employees act as actors.
